DIY Distressed Denim Shorts

Materials:
- Old Pair of Jeans
- Scissors
- Tweezers
- An ice cube picker upper? (you'll see later)
- disappearing fabric ink pen or white colored pencil (can find at any fabric store)

Step 1: Put on your denim jeans and walk around in them so that they fit all the right places

Step 2: Take your fabric ink pen and draw lines where you want to cut. This is just the "pre-cut cut" so it's better to go longer than shorter (just incase) since we will trim up what we don't later

** I ended up cutting an inch lower than that **

Step 3: Cut straight lines across the front and the back of the jeans

Step 4: Put the shorts back on and figure out if theres any place that you want to make shorter or need to even out. Be careful if you cut too short though, because you can never go back! I ended up liking the length of my shorts so I didn't make any changes.

Step 5: Lay your shorts back down and take your "ice cube picker upper" and start shredding the bottom of your shorts. All you do is clamp the ice cube picker upper a little above the edge of your shorts and then pull down. It should start pulling the seams out, making the shorts look more distressed!

Step 6: You can stop at step 5 if you would like, but if you want to have holes in your shorts continue on! Take your scissors and cut some slits over where your pockets lay, BUT MAKE SURE TO NOT CUT YOUR POCKETS.

Step 7: Next take your tweezers and start pulling out the blue threads from one of the strips that you just cut. As you pull the blue threads out you will notice that all that is left is the white horizontal threads. Try not the pull these out!

Repeat steps 6-7 on any other strips you have cut. I advise staying on top of the pockets, but you can distress your shorts any way you want!

Step 8: Throw your shorts into the washer and dryer and when they are done they will end up looking fluffy and even more distressed!
